This morning Microsoft’s $7.5 billion acquisition of Bethesda has been finalized and completed. With this deal final, we also got some news and a quick video by Microsoft showcasing Bethesda’s long gaming history. You can watch the video at the bottom.

As I said we got some news as well. But before I head into that, let’s look at all the developers Microsoft acquired from this massive deal.

Alpha Dog Games

Arkane Studios (Dishonored Series, Prey)

Bethesda Game Studios (Fallout Series, The Elder Scrolls Series)

Id Software (Doom Series)

MachineGames (Wolfenstein Series)

Roundhouse Studios

Tango Gameworks (The Evil Within Series)

ZeniMax Online Studios (The Elder Scrolls Online)

“Our goal is to give these teams the best foundation for doing their greatest work and to learn from them as we continue to build Xbox into an inclusive platform for all players,” says Phil Spencer in a recent Xbox blog post.

Microsoft is shaping up to have a strong lineup of first-party role-playing games thanks to this acquisition. With the Fallout series, The Elder Scrolls series, but also with the recent acquiring of Obsidian Entertainment as well.

Obsidian Entertainment is also a developer known for its outstanding role-playing games such as Fallout: New Vegas, The Outer Worlds, and Pillars of Eternity. They also have Avowed being developed which is set in the Pillars of Eternity universe which maybe their version of The Elder Scrolls.

Honestly, Microsoft acquiring The Elder Scrolls series and Fallout series is more than enough to be considered a powerhouse. But with Obsidian Entertainment it becomes overkill. I think they might have the RPG genre on lock in the future, more specifically western RPGs.

Now for the news, I was talking about earlier. First, Microsoft has stated that we can expect more Bethesda titles hitting Xbox Game Pass sometime next week. They did not specify which game(s).

Also, it seems Microsoft is making certain future Bethesda titles exclusive to Xbox and PC. So far they have not given any information on what games those are.

I’m sure everyone is sweating, wondering if it is an Elder Scrolls game. If it is, most people will still be able to play, except for those who only have a PS4/PS5.

This deal is massive for Microsoft, Xbox, and gamers and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

But I want to hear from you, what do you think about this acquisition? Let me know in the comments.
